A Workshop with Vicki Pinkerton
Writing is a fine form of self expression and a place to become clear about self. It is also a great place to ‘play,’ and explore imagination. It develops portions of the brain that are not frequently used and can help us process events in our lives but most of all, it helps us communicate. Most writers are not especially gifted, they are simply people who write.
As readers we are moved by authors who seem to know our secret longings and motivations. Those writers pull their words from the depths of human and emotional understanding.
As writers, we are not content with writing from the surface. We want our words to touch others, we want to write from the core.
Creative life coach and writer Vicki Pinkerton will sit you down for a frank discussion with your Writer self and share tools to get us writing and pulling from our depths. We will discuss goals, motivation and how to get more writing done in your available time. Your Writer will share walls the two of you must navigate to create the work you are meant to do and we will explore the values that inspire your work. We will be writing so bring a pen, notebook and for this particular session please leave your Critic at home with some reruns of “Game of Thrones” and a few snacks to keep it happy for the afternoon.
Author and writing facilitator Vicki Pinkerton has been interested in writing since she wrote, illustrated and self published her own book at the age of 9 (it was a press run of 1). The Life Coach and AWA (Amhurst Writers and Artists) trained facilitator believes that writing has long ranging effects on the writer.
Vicki is a community animator and travels extensively in Canada finding friends and stories. Her own book “Reflections on the Road, 22,482 kilometres home,” is a non-traditional exploration of the 2009 leg of her “Quest across Canada.”
